Due to the traumatizing events that occurred on December 14, 2012 at 9:30am at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, we the people should fight to have the Federal Assault Weapons Ban reenacted and put into federal law. This ban was put into law on September 13, 1994 and expired September 13, 2004. It made it so people could not hold and sell semi-automatic pistols, rifles and shotguns that met the qualifications of the ban. The ban was part of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement act of 1994.

We don't need for there to be another ban, because bans expire. We need this ban to be put into law. We need these qualified assault rifles to no longer be able to be sold to civilians and we need it now because the only way that crime will deteriorate with these kinds of weapons, is if there is federal restraint put on them.

There have been many attempts to reenact this bill, but none have made it to the floor of the legislature for a vote. This is where we come in. Due to the tragic events at Sandy Hook, there needs to be action taken by the government about assault weapons. What other motive do we need? 27 Innocent lives we lost. Innocent, beautiful, children's lives were lost. YOU by signing this petition can show the government we mean business and we never want a tragedy like what happened at Sandy Hook to happen again. By putting this ban into law we can do that, and make it much harder for people to attain these weapons of mass murder. Is this in protest of our second amendment rights? No. That's not what we are out to protest, some guns can be found necessary in some circumstances, but, we want guns that are made to kill, that can fire and kill 10 rounds in one load, (as classified by the ban) to be off the street. We want life to continue, like we wish we could have the beautiful children and their teachers killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, lives back. We do not be disrupted by people with murdering guns for a second longer.

 And, to those of you who believe that people kill with guns, not the guns who kill people. You're right. But, if they were ban these special kind of guns it would make it so much harder for these weapons to get into the hands of people who can use them irresponsibly.
