STEM Lunar Challenge

Announcing the STEM Lunar Challenge 1 week workshop. The morning session will lead 9th-12th grade students into the adventure of humanity’s new race to the moon.  Our challenge is to create a winning payload idea for Astrobotic’s Griffin Lander to carry to the moon in 2017.  Come learn about the lunar environment and the business opportunities in this new commercial space frontier!

The afternoon session will lead 6th-8th graders on a similar mission.  High school students may stay and help for service hours and to learn more about the moon and its coming industries of mining, scientific discovery, tourism, and future colonization.

Students will learn about payloads, spacecraft, and engineering within differing gravitational environments on The 8th Continent Experience site so we will choose a payload idea, develop it for the Astrobotic flight, and present it to a group of expert judges from NASA, industry, and academia.

Winning entries will be invited to participate in the SLC Capstone to compete to send their payload to the Moon or have their idea put into the Lunar Destiny game.
